Nashville Scene calls her a "cross between Joan Armatrading and the jazzier excursions of Joni Mitchell." Shana has written over one hundred songs: Florida Folk, environmental, pro-activist and spirit-lifting. Her originals cover a broad range of topics such as rivers, produce stands, sweet tea, hot sauce, motherhood, and oak trees. She also has about five hours worth of cover material (list provided upon request), from well-known to obscure. Her latest recording is called "Oak Tree In the Garden," available on Spotify.
She also performs as a blues/kazz/world music duo with world percussionist and didgeridoo player Raihan Alam.

Blissful chanting and music for everyone. If you love music and meditation, kirtan and spiritual connection, come and join Shana Smith for "Chanting to the Open Heart!" No singing or musical experience required. It's a co-created experience for all voices, all hearts, drawing from sacred devotional chants and song mantras from several traditions. Shana has been leading Chanting to the Open Heart experiences in Gainesville, St. Petersburg, and other areas for 15 years. She has also teamed up with world percussionist and didgeridoo player Raihan Alam to offer the SHANRAI experience: world music infused yoga/qigong, kirtan, and sound healing in an all-inclusive 1.5 hour healing event.
